SPECIAL HEETING OF BAM~EY CITY COUNCIL <br /> February 27, 1975 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 12:20 p.m. by the Mayor, Mr. <br />Cox. Present wsreMr. ~orham, Hr. Reimann and Hrs. Oliphant. <br />Mr. Mickelson was on vacation in Hawaii. Hr. Thurston, the Build- <br />lng Inspector was also present. <br /> <br />Hr. Cox asked Hr. Thurston to get a couple of assessment books <br />for them to look over. <br /> <br />The percentage of.increase in ~-rket value su~ested by the County <br />was 20%. Mr. Thurston is using a 15% to 16% increase over the <br />1973 value at a later suggestion from the Countyas this is what <br />they are using. This is a total value of land and buildings. <br />This is for homes built since 1955-1955. This will amount to <br />85% of the market value. <br /> <br />Mr. Reimann asked if Hr. Thurston did not feel that Anoka County <br />was carrying the brunt of the tax burden in the seven county area. <br />t~ Thurston said all land and ever~house must be recomputed on <br /> books..Mr, Larson had stated that every house and every piece <br />of property had to be physically visited this year. Mr' Thurston <br />said this did not have to be done. He will be in the. homes built <br />in 197& and those ~hat were incomplete on 'Jan. 2, 1973. This sum- <br />mer he will star~ over b y going through one-third of the homes <br />in the City. Next.assessment will be in 1977. <br /> <br />Commercial taxes pay 3~18: per ~housand, On a.$30,000 homesteaded <br />house the tax is computedat 25% on the first $12~0 and &O~ for <br />over $12,O00. There are tax credits applied on a certain schedule. <br />A business with a market value of $2~0,8~7 would Pay a tax of about <br />$8~78 and a $509 tax. <br /> <br />Board of review will be May 6, 1975 at 7:30. <br /> <br />Mr. Thurston said we could get aerial maps of the City for'~Oe per <br />half section of $27.20 for all of them. These were taken in 1973. <br />Mr. Gotham moved we buy these aerial maps as they are much needed. <br />Seconded by Mr. Reimann. Motion carriedunanimously. <br /> <br />Thurston asked about buildings being moved into the City. Mr. Dick- <br />enson wants to bring in a garage to be put 'on the back of the pro- <br />perty containing the white house just south of the Dickenson garage. <br /> <br />The Council wants him to have just one driveWay coming out of the <br />property and put in a slab that has beenlchecked out by the Build- <br />ing Inspector and to check with the'County to indicate that this <br />house will not be condemned when Sunfish Lake Blvd. is widened. <br /> <br />Hr.
