CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA 'March 16, 1979 8:00 A.M. The City Council Equipment and Transportation Committee met at~ the above time and date in the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd., Ramsey Minnesota for the following purposes: 1) Review equipment needs of the Public Works Department 2) R~view and make recommendation on the City's Transportation plan and upgrading of City Streets Present at this meeting were Councilman Dave Mickelson, Public Works Superintendent Merle Mevissen, City Administrator Lloyd G. Schnelle, City Engineer Pete Raatikka. Also in attendance on the equipment review portion was the Chief of Police, Mike Auspos. Equipment - Mike Auspos stated the AMC Matador Police squad was in need of a major overhaul. He stated that he felt it was worthwhile to overhanl this vehicle and get another years use out of it at an approximate cost of $2,500. The Committee recommended that the car be overhauled. They advised him to get three price quotes on the cost of overhauling this vehicle and bring it before the City Council. In the review of the public work equipment, Merle pointed out why the need for the third dump truck which the City will be receiving bids on at this coming Council meeting of March 26, 1979. Merle stated that their Dodge dump truck was built in Canada and consequently when the City needs parts for it the delivery time is a major factor. If this truck breaks down, we have only one other dump truck to handle the needs of the City. Loader - Merle pointed out that the loader is practically worn out. How- ever, they do have a big use for this piece of equipment such as cleaning out ditches, cul de sac in connection with snow removal and etc. Con- sequently, due to the cost of this equipment, it was decided to postpone any decision until budgeting time for fiscal year 1980. Transportation - The Committee looked at the City's thoroughfare plan and it was noted that the City currently has a land planning study being done through a grant from the Metro Council which does address the thoroughfare issue. The major question is how thorough this issue will be covered in -this current study. However, Mayor Gamec will be meeting on this issue with Lee Starr of the Metro Council, Dick Sha, City Engineer, Dexter Marston, Planne~ and City Administrator on March 23, 1979 at 9:00 A.M. at the City Hall. After that meeting a more comprehensive report can be given on the thoroughfare issue. Secondly, the Committee reviewed Merle's recommendations for upgrading cer- tain streets in the City of Ramsey with his own men which are as follows:
