It was the general consensus of the Commission to agree with Ms. Walte Smith's report and to
encourage the City Cotmcil to provide for the scheduling of meetings at regular time periods for
all Commissions.

Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith was excused from the meeting.

Case #2: 1996 Ramsey Business EXPO

The Ramsey EDC and the City of Ramsey, in conjunction with the Ramsey Lions Club,
conducted the 1996 Ramsey Business EXPO. This year's EXPO was held on June 1, 1996 at
Ramsey's Central Park. This year's event was attended by 21 businesses with the picnic drawing
over 2,000 to 3,000 visitors. All of the businesses that I had talked to at the event felt that it was
a success and would be back in 1997.

Vice-Chairperson Kent asked if a survey to the participating businesses was distributed yet and if
it did not make sense at this time to include the ability for the businesses to reserve a booth for
the next year at a reduced price.

The EDC discussed whether this idea should be instituted and that if they paid for the booth prior
to the event, that the cost should reflect a 20 percent savings.

Mr. Gromberg said that this should allow for the City continue to cover the costs of the event as
long as every one did not take advantage of the offer. Mr. Gromberg also stated that he would
develop and distribute a post-EXPO survey to the participants and offer them a 20 percent
discount if they signed up for the 1997 event and prepaid prior to May 1, 1997. Mr. Gromberg
continued that as the EDC may be aware, there was some confusion with regard to the brochure
for the event and the failure to indicate that the Community Picnic is sponsored by the Ramsey
Lions Club. Based upon this oversight, he has drafted a letter to the Ramsey Lions apologizing
for this mistake and making the necessary changes for 1997. The EDC reviewed the proposed
letter and approved its mailing to the Ramsey Lions.

Case #3: Ramsey Business Appreciation Day

The Eighth Annual Business Appreciation Day has been scheduled for August 21, 1996 at The
Links at Northfork, with a dinner to follow at JR's Entertainment Center.

This change in the general schedule of the event, splitting the golf and dinner, will allow for the
event to be scheduled using alternating golf courses. The event is proposed to cost each golfer
$65, Those wanting to take part in the meal only will pay $15.

The EDC has purchased eight dozen golf balls as door prizes. The EDC should review the
possibility of the purchase of additional door prizes such as last year when each Commission
member donated an oversized driver. Should the Commission decide to provide the prize we
should determine the price and donation cost.

Economic Development Commission/June 6, 1996
Page 3 of 5
