Case /12: <br /> <br />Authorize Advertisement for Bids for Articulated Loader with Snow <br />Plow and Wing <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart explained that the budget for 1996 included $110,000 for the purchase of one <br />3-yard, articulated loader with snow plow and wing. This amount is net of an anticipated trade in <br />value of $20,000. This purchase is a replacement for Unit 0605, a 1980 Fiat-Allis loader. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend Council <br />ap. prove authorizing advertisement of bids for the 3-yard, articulated loader with snow plow and <br />wing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen, Beyer, Peterson and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None, <br /> <br />Case #3: Authorize Purchase of Workstations and Remodeling to Various <br /> Areas of the Municipal Center <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart stated that this case covers a vast array of items - workstations and some <br />remodeling to Administrative Services, Finance Department, Community Development and to <br />remodeling as necessary to the Police Department area once the new Police facility is complete. It <br />is anticipated that purchasing would be done either through the Hennepin County Purchasing <br />Cooperative or the State of Minnesota Cooperative Pumhasing Venture which complies with bid <br />laws. She explained that one of the current interns may have the ability to do some of the space <br />planning and make recommendations as to uses of various equipment and furnishings. Any <br />remodeling would be done in-house, to the extent possible, or acquired through a quotation <br />process. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson suggested that it be done in two phases - the study and then the purchase. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Mayor Hardin to recommend Council approval <br />to proceed with the space needs analysis of workstations and remodeling to Administrative <br />Services, Finance Department, Community Development and the existing Police area. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Peterson and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case 04: Review Request for Funding of Project KidCare ID <br /> <br />Police Chief Auspos reported that the Police Department has looked into Project KidCare ID, a <br />national campaign sponsored by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to <br />increase awareness about missing children. He explained the child packet that's given to parents <br />and also talked about the cost to provide what's in the packet ($870). The Ramsey Lions have <br />pledged a donation of $600 and the balance, $350, is proposed to be taken from the Special <br />Revenue Police Officers' Fund from forfeiture moneys. This fund had a balance in excess of <br />$2,000 as of December 31, 1995. Chief Auspos added that the Police Department, Ramsey Lions, <br />Ramsey Elementary PTA, Ramsey Women of Today, and others will be taking the photos at an <br />event to be scheduled in March. He suggested this is a very worthwhile program and certainly <br />within the scope of the law enforcement goals in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen questioned whether 600 packets would be enough to which Chief Auspos <br />responded that it would be. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson inquired if anyone had discussed maybe charging the public $1 per <br />packet. <br /> <br />Finance Committee/January 23, 1996 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
