ChiefAuspos replied that staff did not want to charge a fee so they could get as many people in to
participate as possible. There would be a nominal fee for the parent to come into the office and
update the ID cards.

Councilmember Peterson inquired how other communities are handling it to which Chief Auspos
answered he did not know. He (Peterson) felt that a $1 fee would not detract any parents.

Councilmember Beahen preferred to see this project be a total community sponsored event, for the
first time it is offered.

Councilmember Zimmerman agreed that it should be free; the cost is not that much.

Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend Council approve
the initiation and funding of Project KidCare ID with the donation of $600 from the Ramsey Lions
Club and allocation of $350 from the Police Officers' Fund.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Peterson .and
Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

Case #5: Update on Anoka-Hennepin Community Education

Finance Officer Hart presented the information received from Steve Kerr of the Community
Education Office for Anoka-Hennepin District #11. The information presented was in response to
questions asked at the November 28, 1995 Finance Committee meeting of which the Community
Education staff was a part of. She added that the error in the level of charging for Ramsey had
been corrected.

No action was required.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Peterson and
Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

The regular meeting of the Finance Committee adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
/
Respectfully submitt~,
.. .............

Jofllal'61in~..-- ~ x"x' .~-:'~C Jessie Hart
.R'6co' rding Secretary "-C./ Finance Officer

Finance Committee/January 23, 1996
