truck, snow plow and topper and asked for approval of the bids as follows: 3/4 ton 4x4 truck <br />from Superior Ford at $20,605.62, an 8' Leo Plow from Track Utilities Manufacturing Company <br />at $2,502.75, one topper (vendor to be determined) at $500 and the license/registration at $50, <br />which is an approximate total of $23,658.37. She explained that since the total exceeds the amount <br />budgeted, staff will attempt to trade the existing unit; however, it is felt that the overage can be <br />absorbed within the general operating budget. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend <br />Council adopt the resolution authorizing the purchase of one 3/4 ton 4 x 4 with snow plow and <br />topper. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer and Peterson. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberBeahen. <br /> <br />Case g2: Approval of 1996 Park Projects <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder informed the Committee that the following park projects are within <br />the 1996 Capital Improvements Program: Central Park improvements - $105,000, Titterud Park <br />parking lot/light timer - $18,500, Flintwood Terrace Playground - $32,000, Elementary School <br />hockey rink - $10,000, Emerald Pond Park Phase Two - $106,000 and C.R. #116 Trail - 1994 <br />allocation. The hockey rinks were previously authorized and are basically completed. The C.R. <br />#116 trail is part of the C.R. #116fr. H. #47 intersection improvement. The Emerald Pond Park is <br />still under review by the neighborhood and will come to a subsequent meeting for review. The <br />request for authorization tonight is on the Central Park improvements, Titterud Park lot and light <br />timer and the Flintwood Terrace playground. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to recommend <br />Council approval of the Central Park improvements for 1996 and to authorize a request for bids on <br />the field lighting and request for proposals on the balance of the budget, to approve the Flintwood <br />Terrace budget and authorize bids as presented and to approve the Titterud Park budget and <br />authorize request for proposals for the budgeted work. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Peterson and Beyer. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Beahen. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Award Engineering Services for the Extension of McKinley Street <br />500 Feet West of Sunfish Lake Drive <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder reported that with the current proposal of Listul Industries to <br />construct a new facility on the City-owned parcel of land west of Sunfish Lake Boulevard and <br />north of the railroad tracks, it will be necessary to construct roadway and storm sewer and stub all <br />utility services from the existing mains. Quotes were requested from Hakanson Anderson and <br />Maier Stewart, Inc., since both of these firms were doing work for the City which has a <br />relationship to this project. He recommended going with Hakanson Anderson as they are the low <br />bidder. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman was pleased the City went out for bids as it shows the tax payers that <br />we are seeking competitive bids to keep costs low. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to recommend Council <br />award engineering services to Hakanson Anderson for the extension of McKinley Street 500 feet <br />west of Sunfish Lake Drive. <br /> <br />Finance Committee/February 27, 1996 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
