Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen and Peterson. Voting No:
Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen and Peterson. Voting No:
Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman. (Councilmember Zimmerman voted opposed due to it
being a two-year contract - not to the contract itself.)

Case #3: Consider Alternative to Ramsey Resident Newsletter

Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith reported that the City was approached about the
possibility of communicating with the residents through a newspaper called the Andover, Ham
Lake, Ramsey Times. She was under the impression that all the residents in the City already
receive this newspaper. The frequency would be monthly as opposed to the Ramsey Resident
being distributed seven times a year.

Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to table this issue and bring it
back for further discussion to the next Finance Committee meeting.

Further discussion: Councilmember Beyer suggested that switching to this form of communicating
may be a major improvement from what we have right now.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Peterson and
Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

COMMITTEE INPUT

1) Update on Receptionist Position

Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith stated that the City received 93 applications for the
receptionist position. Fourteen of the applicants were tested and interviewed, and staff is hoping to
make a job offer on Monday and bring the recommendation to Council.

Finance Committee/September 24, 1996
