Consent <br /> <br />2004 SAFE AND SOBER AGREEMENT WITH STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> By: Captain Timothy Dwyer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Police Department has participated in the State of Minnesota Safe and Sober <br />Operation for the last few years. Grant money is available to local agencies to conduct <br />education and enforcement in the area of drunken driving, seatbelt, and speeding. Ten <br />out of the 11 law enforcement agencies in Anoka County will be participating in the <br />2004 grant operation, starting in October of 2003. Ramsey PD has won equipment and <br />2nd place awards for its participation in this program. The State of Minnesota needs a <br />resolution from the City Council authorizing the execution of the 2004 agreement. All <br />officer overtime expenses will be covered under this grant. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends the Police Department participate in the 2004 Safe and Sober <br />Communities project. Staff, therefore, requests the adoption of Resolution #03-07-XXX <br />authorizing the execution of the required Safe and Sober agreement with the State of <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion by City Council to adopt Resolution # 03-07-XXX, authorizing.the execution of <br />the agreement with the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety for the 2004 <br />participation in the project entitled "Safe and Sober Communities" <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />Police Captain <br />Police Chief <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br /> <br />
