Councihnember introduced the fo/lowing resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #03-07-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR 2004 PARTICIPATION IN THE SAFE AND SOBER <br />COMMUNITIES PROGRAM <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department has in previous years participated in the Minnesota Safe and <br />Sober Project, receiving grant money for the education and enforcement of DWI, Speed, and Seatbelt laws. In order <br />to do this, the City of Ramsey has entered into contractual agreements with the State of Mim~esota to receive grant <br />money. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department would like to participate in the 2004 Safe and Sober <br />Campaign. A grant is being prepared by the Coon Rapids Police Department of which the Ramsey Police <br />Department would like to partner with. If awarded the grant, all the police departments involved would receive <br />sufficient funding to cover officer overtime expenses to participate in the required Safe and Sober wave sessions. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota is requiring a resolution from Council authorizing the execution of an <br />agreement with the Department of Public Safety for the 2004 participating in project SAFE AND SOBER <br />COMMUNITIES to commence October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2004. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, <br />ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />That the Ramsey Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Depm~'nent of <br />Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for the project entitled SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES <br />during the period from October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2004. <br /> <br />That tile Ramsey Chief of Police is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as <br />are necessary to implement tile project on behalf of the Ramsey Police Department in cooperation with <br />the Coon Rapids Police Department. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by, and upon vote being taken thereon, the <br />following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />And the following voted against: <br /> <br />And the following abstained: <br /> <br />And tile following were absent: <br /> <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the <br />day of 2003 <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Mawr <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
