Case #3 Request for Extension of Sewer andWater

Background:

The Public Works Committee recommends that the City Council authorize the feasibility study
for the extension of sewer and water to the commercial development at 167th Avenue and T.H.
#47 to be paid for from the City's Water Utility Fund because of the benefit the retail node
provides to the entire City.

Council Action:
Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

COMMITTEES/STAFF INPUT

1) County Road 116 Median Extension

Background:

Staff reported that the County was advertising for bids on the CR 116 median extension east of
T.H. #47, and that this work did not include the additional right turn lane for eastbound CR 116
at the south east comer of the intersections. Several Committee members expressed a strong
inclination to require this turn lane as a condition of continued support for this project. Staff has
notified the County of the Committee's desires to continue this discussion with the County.
The Public Works Committee recommends that the City Council direct Staffto meet with the
County to further discuss the possibility ora right mm lane going eastbound on CR #116.

Action:
Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

2) Ramsey Park and Ride

Background:

Principal City Engineer Olson explained that last year the City Council talked about the facility
being placed in the southeastern comer of the Town Center property on a temporary basis, which
the City received a grant for. Since that time the timeline for the Town Center is going faster
than originally anticipated so they no longer see the need to place the facility in the southeastern
comer. The problem is that the City is at risk of losing the grant if the facility is not constructed
in the location specified in the grant unless the City can receive a one-year extension. A one-
year extension request has been made and Staff is currently waiting for a response.

Action:
No action necessary.

Reviewed by:
City Administrator
Director of Public Works/Fire Chief
Assistant Public Works Director

CC: 07/08/03
