A would end at 144th Lane, while Option B would continue from that point on Potassium to the
intersection at 143Road Lande, then west to Quicksilver.

Residents surveyed indicated that geese were one of the problems at the park. Mr. Boos said that
the City has reduced mowing down to the water thus the geese will look for the easiest way out
(especially with their young), and will most likely not be coming out along the walkways and
paths.

Discussion ensued regarding a kiosk in the northern area with a possible fountain and arbor just
west of it, and a fire pit with a lockable lid located in the southwest comer. Irrigation was a big
factor and was discussed in conjunction with the fountain.

Mr. Boos indicated that the City could provide tree trimmings as some of the wood to be used in
the fire pit. A rustic setting for that area was determined to be most aethetic.

Commissioner Johns questioned whether a drinking fountain would be put in. The concensus of
the Commission was not to put a drinking fountain at this time due to vandalism.

The Commission's consensus was that an irrigation system, a picnic area with plantings on the
island including a fire pit be the main development prioritites for the park.

Case #5: DETERMINE OUTDOOR MEETING SCHEDULE

To encourage public participation and to provide familiarity with the system, the Commission
has been conducting it's regular meetings at park sites during the summer.

All meetings commence at 6:00 p.m. except as noted. In the case of inclement weather, the
meeting would be re-scheduled the same night at 6:30 at City Hall.

Following is the Commission's schedule:

April - Emerald Pond Park (walk thru of the park at 5:30)
May Fox Park
June Central Park (public hearing - see Case #6)
July Lake Itasca Park
Aug - Solstice Park
Sept - Riverdale Park

Case #6: SCHEDULE PUBLIC COMMENT PROCESS FOR ALPINE PARK

The 1997 Capital Improvment Program shows an approximate $220,000 improvement to begin
construction of Alpine Park.

Park and Recreation Commission/March 14, 1996
Page 4 of 7
