Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained the improvements to date to the park as well as the
proposed improvements.

Mr. Boos explained the two sidewalk options that are being considered. One option is a short
segment (534 feet) extend along Potassium to 144th Lane, allowing residents to go west one
block on the street, then south on Quicksilver Street to the northerly park entrance. This option
would affect three lots with sideyard easements. The second option would extend down
Potassium to 143rd Lane (1,769 feet).

Mr. Michael Ryen questioned whether there was only one entrance from the proposed
development to the north.

Mr. Boos responded that Potassium is the collector street.

Chairperson Cook inquired about the traffic on Tungsten.

Mr. Boos reflected that a traffic count has not been done yet.

Commissioner Droegemueller questioned what kind of buffer zone would be between the trail
and the three side lots.

Mr. Boos replied that traditionally is the responsibility of the homeowners.

Mr. Ryen asked how many sidewalks the City had like the proposed to which Mr. Boos
answered that River's Bend 3rd Addition is the most similar example.

Mr. Ryen wondered if the three affected homeowners were aware of the proposal. Mr. Boos
indicated that it should be quite clear with the curb cuts, etc., that something would eventually
occur at that location, plus there was the special meeting requesting comments.

Discussion ensued as to the various on-road trails (transportational, destination, etc.) with the
emphasis on children's safety coming and going from the park.

Mr. Ryen wondered why Sunfish, 142nd Lane, Tungsten or Magnesium couldn't be used as the
main collector streets.

Commissioner Johns explained that the opportunity was there at the time of platting.

Easements are available allowing approximately 4 feet of grassy area and 5-6 feet of concrete.

Marilyn Otubushin presented a petition signed by residents opposing the trail.

Park and Recreation Commission96
