City Engineer Jankowski stated they have and pointed out that adopting this Study establishes the
position to connect Sunwood Drive.

Mr. Eyler suggested this could be another local initiative project in the future.

City Engineer Jankowski recommended a letter be sent to residents along 149th Avenue advising
them of the final recommendation to Council and when it will be adopted.

Mr. Eyler advised that Mn/DOT usually provides a two-year "warning" to property owners if their
property is to be acquired.

City Administrator Schroeder inquired whether the intent is that Sunwood Drive would be built
concurrent with T.H. #47 improvements.

City Engineer Jankowski agreed this would probably happen.

Mr. Eyler concurred and noted the Study does make this indication.

Councilmember Zimmerman suggested the wording regarding the second alternative policy be revised
to present a positive position that the expansion of T.H. #47 will be pursued concurrently when the
property is acquired.

Consensus was reached to direct staffto send notification to homeowners to advise them of the T.H.
#47 Corridor Study and invite them to a specially scheduled evening meeting.

Mr. Eyler stated he will invite a Mn/DOT right-of-way specialist to attend this meeting, or at least
to provide information for distribution at the meeting.

Case/43: Report on 171st Traffic Study

City Engineer Jankowski explained that prior to paving Bison Street, a traffic count indicated 85
vehicles per day on 171st Avenue between Bison Street and Zeolite. Following the paving of Bison
Street, a visual observation was conducted during a two hour period (between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00
a.m.) which determined eight vehicles used 171st Avenue and six vehicles used Bison Street north
of 171 st Avenue.

Councilmember Zimmerman requested this matter be delayed until next month so Tim Dusbabek
could be present for discussion. He advised that Mr. Dusbabek wants the traffic to be counted closer
to evening hours.

Consensus reached to place this item on the August agenda.

Road and Bridge Committee\July 9, 1996
