Draft parks Capital Improvement Program /' [September 2001] 2002 #1 Central Park Entrance $71,700 This project has been discussed by City Council and the Commission for approximately one-year. In summary, the improvement Would consist of signage and landscaping at the entrance of 167t Avenue as well as a bike path with benches in this one-acre coruer. The last funding was discussed, the Commission had recommended 2/3rds of the improvement be funded by the Park Trust Fund and the remainder from another source designated by Council. #2 Flintwood Terrace shelter and Irri~ation $75,000 The existing site has a playstructure with a bituminous trail access. Because of the level of use, tuff quality remains poor or non-existent. This project would result in desirable turf and a small gazebo-style shelter. The funding is proposed from the Park Trust Fund. It is possible that the vacant land North of this site will .be proposed' for development within the 2002 timeframe. The Park Dedication monies would then be available through the Park Trust Fund. #3 Trail Pavinq from 164'h Lane to the Lake Itasca Boardwalk $19,500 With the platting of the North Fork Oaks ?d Addition, the City received a dedication of land from the existing boardwalk to 164t~ Lane. Residents continue to request the paving of this section, This connection is the only East/West trail or street route proposed between Autumn Heights to the North and the Lake Itasca Trailhead to the South. The addition of this provides direct access to Central Park for residents of North Fork, and direct access to the Lake Itasca Trail to those to the East. #4 Elmcrest Park Phase I $273,500 The $273,500 proposed, provides the balance of the investment to complete [he phase I improvements recommended by the Park Commission in 2001. The approximate $98,500 identified under the grants column continues the idea raised by the Steering Committee - to fund the parks development .as a. 'Challenge Grant' park. P37
