2003 #5 Central Park Entrance 'Water Feature' $25,000 The focus of this project would be to reconsider the element of the Central Park Entrance project that was deleted from the ori~nal proposal. This element or phase would add back in the pond with fountain in the Southeast comer of the entrance and also the drinking fountain if possible. The entrance treatment will also serve as a rest point for travelers along Co. Rd. #83's trail - which is the project below. #6 'County Road #83 Trail from 167th Lane to Alpine Dr. - to Lake Itasea $I30,O00[est.] Construction of this trail would be primarily in the R:O.W. of A_rmstrong Boulevard and Alpine Drive. The route would be from the North end of the Lake Itasca Trail, South to Alpine Drive, then West to the trail adjacent to the lake. This project has been in the 5-year plan for several years and in addition to the recreational values, enhances safety for motorists and pedestrian alike. The Landfill Trust fund is shown as being matched by DNR Trail Grant monies. Alpine Plav~oround $70,000 This improvement would be sited South of the park's entrance in view of the Alpine Addition across the street. It will be a recreation destination unto itself- as well as for families there for other purposes. The design would incorporate tiered perennial beds around the playstructure. The irrigated landscaping would invite parents and users to sit in and among the foliage, thereby providing relaxing, educational surroundings to supervise their child's play. One theme to compliment the perennial plantings would the subject of lepidoptera [ the study of butterflies]. The playstructure itself could even carry this theme. #8 Sunfish Lake 'Shoreside' Park $90,000 The property referenced is currently owned by Waste Management and is on the West Side of the lake - south of center. This site is probably Ramsey's only opportunity to secure .lakefront property for park purposes. The Storm Water UtiliD, is proposed as a purchase-funding source in that the site can be used for storm water detention for future development in the area. #9 Titterud Plavequipment Replacement $55,O00 2003 is the first year in which this plan proposes General fund monies. The $25,000 would be added to the parks Depreciation Fund value [estimated here at $30,000]. Other amenities would be added to the.project, as the budget will allow. P38
