Voting Yes: Chairperson Cook, Commissioners Olds, Shryock, and Johns.
Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners LaMere, Ostrum, and Rolfe.

COMMISSION BUSINESS

Case #1: Receive Sketch Plan for the Proposed Wurm-Paumen Subdivision

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos presented the sketch plan for a proposed 27-acre subdivision
west of County Road 56 and south and west of 158th Lane. He explained that this property is
likely to develop with six single-family lots as detailed in the Planning Commission case. The
Planning Commission will review this proposed plat at their July 11, 2002 meeting and the Park
Commission can make a formal Park Dedication recommendation at the August 8th, 2002
meeting. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos noted that in terms of the expected park and trail
development, the Commission this property is on the Elmcrest Creek Trail route between Central
and Elmcrest Park. Over the course of the next few weeks, Staff will meet with the Developers
to review proposals on site for a non-wetland trail route.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos indicated the trail would most likely to be high ground but that a
wetland crossing would be acceptable. He stated the developer may be willing to assist with the
cost if a large portion of the trail would go through the wetland. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos
noted land dedication would need to be made with this development. He noted a proposal for the
trail and land dedication would be presented by the developer in August.

Commissioner Olds asked if there were any trails along County Road 56 at this time.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos noted there was a trail north of this development and stated he
felt a trail should be along this roadway. He stated this trail was not in the Trail Plan.

Commissioner Johns asked if this development was within the school walking distance.
Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated he felt it was just outside the walking area.

Chair Cook stated he felt the trail on County Road 56 should be made a part of the park
dedication and to have the Commission update the trail map to make this a requirement.

!
!

Park and Recreation Commission/July 11, 2002
Page 2 of 9
