election date for November 6,200l, rather than the special election date previously authorized of' <br />October 16, 2001. The reason for the date change from October 16, 2001, to November 6, 2001, <br />is tbr a variety of' reasons. Many municipalities in the Metropolitan area already have regular <br />off-year elections on the first Tuesday of November, including hotly contested elections in both <br />Minneapolis and St. Paul. Additionally, the Anoka-Hermepin School Distr/ct has school board <br />elections and possibly a voter referendum to consider an operating budget issue. Staff has also <br />learned that ~br those areas of the City within ~e Anoka-Hermepin School District, the School <br />D'istrict will share expenses with the City at a rate of 50 percent. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Counci/member Anderson, to reschedule the <br />election previously scheduled for October 16, 2001 to November 6, 2001, based on the Charter <br />Commission recall of August 9, 2001 recalling the amendments proposed by their action on July <br />24, 2001 <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Kurak, and Anderson. Voting <br />No: None. Present: Councilmembers Hendriksen, and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />Case #?: Report from Finance Committee <br /> <br />.The Finance Committee met on August 14, 2001 to discuss the following cases: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Receive and Review Telephone Systems Quotes; Select Telephone System Proposal <br />The Finance Committee recommended that the City Council accept the proposal as <br />submitted by McLeod USA as the lowest, most responsible quote. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Approve Elmcrest Parks Concept Plan <br />The Finance Committee recommended approval of onsite management team training by <br />Salverda & Associates at a fee not to exceed 51,500. <br /> <br />Request to Amend 2001 Schedule of Rates, Fees, and Charges (Specifically Wine <br />License) <br />The Finance Committee recommended that the. City Council adopt Resolution <br /> , amending 2001 Schedules of Rats, Fees and Charges, specifically the fee for the <br />Wine License. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />Chicago Opportunity Site Tour <br /> <br />The Finance Committee recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution #01-08- <br />~ transf~rr/ng $8,500 fi.om the Council Contingency Fund to the budget of Mayor & <br />Council to fund the Opportunity Site tour to Chicago. <br /> <br />City Council/August 14, 2001 <br /> Page 11 of 13 <br /> <br /> <br />
