Councilmember Connolly stated that it is an unusual situation where you can have an <br />environmentally sensitive park yet have active use. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook explained that the park will have to be completed in phases. The first <br />phase may only include grading and construction of the fields. <br /> <br />Mr. Olsen suggested providing enough parking for the people going to the games rather <br />than having them use the residential streets. <br /> <br />Commissioner Droegemueller replied that he thinks they will be able to plan adequate <br />parking. <br /> <br />Cecil Harbaugh, 6011 160"~ Lane NW, Ramsey, stated that he would like to see plenty of <br />bike paths in the park with a dirt trail for kids to ride their bikes. <br /> <br />Bruce Bacon stated that there is a lot of interest in wildlife in Ihe City and as part of this <br />process they need to look at whether the activities are compatible. He stated that he <br />would like to entertain the possibility of doing biological monitoring to determine if the <br />water will be able to maintain the wildlife. <br /> <br />Unknown resident inquired if there will be a response from MnDOT at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Dircctor of Public Works KaPler stated that one of the City Engineers is part of a <br />MnDOT Board and he could have him do a preliminary study prior to the next steering <br />committee meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec addressed the residents concerns with speeding by pointing out that most <br />people ticketed or warned for speeding are the neighborhood residents themselves. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook thanked everyone for their time and input and reviewed the primary <br />comments. <br /> <br />The Commissioners invited residents to the next concept planning meeting expected to be <br />on January 25, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission Work Session <br />December 14, 2000 <br /> Page 5 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
