Commissioner Droegemueller replied that they can't say that in tile future there xvon't be <br />lights, but there will probably not be lights initially. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook explained that Phase I will be the grading of the land and developing <br />some of tile fields. <br /> <br />Unknown resident inquired if they knew what type of fields will be in the park. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated that part of the planning process was to look at the needs of <br />RYAA and they are indicating that there is a need for more soccer and football fields. <br />There will not be any lit baseball or softball fields because of Central Park. <br /> <br />RYAA representative stated that they will be looking for lighted football fields because <br />there is no lighted football fields in the City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe inquired as to how late the games are played. <br /> <br />RYAA representative replied 9:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Unknown resident inquired if this could be a site for a community center. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook replied no. <br /> <br />Nick Edmonds, 6410 162~d Avenue, Ramsey, stated that he is a skateboarder in the area <br />and there is no place for kids to skateboard. He inquired if it would be possible to <br />construct a skateboard area in the park. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook inquired as to how big of an area they would need. <br /> <br />Mr. Edmonds replied approximately ½ acre. He stated that Anoka has a skateboarding <br />complex, but it is very crowded. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook inquired if there are standards that have to be met to construct such a <br />complex. <br /> <br />Mr. EdmOnds replied that there is a place called True Ride who builds ramps <br />professionally. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook inquired if they would be proposing an area for unorganized use. <br /> <br />Mr. Edmonds replied yes. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook inquired if the Anoka complex is supervised and if they have a lot of <br />trouble. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission Work Session <br />December 14, 2000 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
