As part of this pubhc hearing, the department is <br />seeking an Outdoor Recreation Grant ~om the <br />Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. <br />This matching grant allows for the development of <br />:ecreational facilities and has been used in the <br />past for the redevelopment of Ham .Lake County <br />Park, Coon Lake County Park, Rum River South <br />County Park and. Manomin County Park: · The <br />grant requires a 50% match in either cash, and/or. <br />in-kind labor and materials. The coUnty is <br />planning to budget .the matching dollars-in 'its <br />2004/2005 Capital Improvement Budget. <br /> <br />Twin Lakes CoUnty. Park is located in Burns <br />Township, the northwestern part of Anoka CoUnty. <br />The park is over 60 acres in size and contiguous <br />with the western edge of East Twin Lake[ <br />Currently the park is used' for swimming, <br />picnicking and hiking. The park als© has a boat <br />launch that accesses the lake. Redevelopment <br />plans ¢~dl for improving the beach and 'boat launch <br />areas, and included the following amenities: <br /> <br /> Restroom Facility <br />'Playground <br /> Paved and Natural Surface Hiking Trails <br /> 2 Picnic Pavilions <br />Fishing Pier and Observation Deck <br />Paved Roadways and Parking Lots <br />Athletic Fields and Support Facilities <br />Natural Resource Restoration <br />Security Lighting, Utilities and <br />miscellaneous items <br /> <br />· The grant is due March 31'', and ff accepted, <br />redevelopment efforts will s~art Lu 2004 and <br />most likely finish in 2005. Upon completion of the. <br />redevelopment, the county will transfer the park <br />to Burns Township for theix use. The township <br />board will be responsible for the maintenance and <br />the day to day operations. Transferring this park <br />is one of the goals outlined in the 2020 Vision Plan <br />adopted by the county in 1998. <br /> <br />Sea,sonn,1 Employee ltecruimnt <br /> <br />The Anoka. Paul feels the. changes have <br />improved the parks tremendously: The.new picnic <br />pavilions, shelter buildings, beaches, boat <br />launches, and campgrounds are such an <br />improvement from what .existed.
