As part of this pubhc hearing, the department is seeking an Outdoor Recreation Grant ~om the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This matching grant allows for the development of :ecreational facilities and has been used in the past for the redevelopment of Ham .Lake County Park, Coon Lake County Park, Rum River South County Park and. Manomin County Park: · The grant requires a 50% match in either cash, and/or. in-kind labor and materials. The coUnty is planning to budget .the matching dollars-in 'its 2004/2005 Capital Improvement Budget. Twin Lakes CoUnty. Park is located in Burns Township, the northwestern part of Anoka CoUnty. The park is over 60 acres in size and contiguous with the western edge of East Twin Lake[ Currently the park is used' for swimming, picnicking and hiking. The park als© has a boat launch that accesses the lake. Redevelopment plans ¢~dl for improving the beach and 'boat launch areas, and included the following amenities: Restroom Facility 'Playground Paved and Natural Surface Hiking Trails 2 Picnic Pavilions Fishing Pier and Observation Deck Paved Roadways and Parking Lots Athletic Fields and Support Facilities Natural Resource Restoration Security Lighting, Utilities and miscellaneous items · The grant is due March 31'', and ff accepted, redevelopment efforts will s~art Lu 2004 and most likely finish in 2005. Upon completion of the. redevelopment, the county will transfer the park to Burns Township for theix use. The township board will be responsible for the maintenance and the day to day operations. Transferring this park is one of the goals outlined in the 2020 Vision Plan adopted by the county in 1998. Sea,sonn,1 Employee ltecruimnt The Anoka. He hc~ seen.a lot change in the-opera.t/on of the pork system fi-nd maintenance unit. Paul feels the. changes have improved the parks tremendously: The.new picnic pavilions, shelter buildings, beaches, boat launches, and campgrounds are such an improvement from what .existed.
