CASE AWARD BID FOR PURCHASE OF DUMP BOX, SNOW PLOW, WING AND SANDER FOR 1995 2-1/2 TON TRUCK By: Jessie L. Hart, Finance Officer Background: Included in the 1995 Adopted General Fund Budget is $75,000 for the purchase of a 2-1/2 ton truck, equipped with dump box, snow plow, wing and sander. This purchase is a replacement for unit #607, a 1982, 2-1/2 ton Ford with approximately 45,000 miles. On January 24, 1995, the City Council authorized the purchase of the truck cab and chassis through Lakeland Ford for a price not-m-exceed $41,903, plus sales tax and license. In addition, the Council directed that bids be solicited for the purchase of the dump box, snow plow, wing and sander. The total cost of the track cab and chassis is $44,626.70 (not including license), which leaves approximately $30,000 for the purchase of the box, plows and sander. Sealed bids were solicited and opened on Wednesday, April 12, 1995. One bid was received from J-Craft, Inc. for all of the equipment specified and some extra options for a total of $30,588.85 [includes sales tax], which is over and above the budget available. Public Works Supervisor Merle Mevissen has reviewed the bid and recommends that the tarp system option at $595.88 be deleted, leaving a bid price of $29,992.97 [includes sales tax], which is within the available budget. Staff Recommendation: Committee approval of the purchase of dump box, snow plow, wing and sander for a 1995 2-1/2 ton truck from J-Craft, Inc. at a price not-to-exceed $29,992.97, which includes sales tax. Committee Action: Motion to recommend Council approve and adopt Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding Contract for the Purchase of Dump Box, Snow Plow, Wing and Sander from J-Craft, Inc.
