she had completed several concepts and had them reviewed by Police personnel. We then
asked Council for direction and authorization to proceed.

Council requested more information. One request was for remodeling of the current fire
barn into police facilities. This has been completed and is attached for your review. We
did not cost this option out due to the fact that it would require moving a substantial portion
of the fire operation, without any significant gain received in police operations.

We also forwarded concepts for new construction with an estimate of $450,000, plus site
work (attached). Site development in the space needs study was estimated at under
$60,000. This figure, however, seems light if new parking, landscaping and utilities are
required.

Pursuant to another attachment, you can see that a lease purchase may be an option for new
construction. Another option, of course, is to shrink or phase a new building. Another
issue to remember is the desired expansion of fire space (perhaps a satellite station) and soft
remodeling of City Hall spaces (as well as furnishing any police department space).

At this point, I haven't gone any further than the above, hoping for additional direction. If
Council is interested in pursuing new construction, we would put together site plans for
your review and would prepare financing options for July.

Committee/Council Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
Police Chief
Fire Chief
Finance Officer

FC: 06/27/95

/jmt
