CASE #

STATUS REPORT ON SUNWOOD DRIVE PROJECT
By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

This case is intended to provide the Road and Bridge Committee with an update on the
status of the design and construction of Sunwood Drive from Wood Pond Hills to County
Road #57. The design of the bridge spanning Wetland #114P is underway and should be
completed within the next two to three weeks. City Staff has been in contact with Tom and
Patty Kurak, the property owners, through whose land approximately 1800 feet of the
roadway will traverse. A meeting with the Kurak's on July 27, 1995, resulted in a shift of
the roadway approximately 100 feet north at the center of their property. Subsequent to
that meeting, the Kurak's have requested another alternate alignment. I will have
illustrations of the existing and two alternative alignments available at the meting. We feel
it is necessary to finalize the alignment through the Kurak's property at this time as it will
have an impact on the final property which this roadway will need to traverse, the Ben
Deemer property. We hope to be able to meet with Mr. Deemer during the latter part of the
week of August 6, or the week of August 13.

Our current schedule anticipates taking bids on the project at the end of September.

Committee Action:

Motion to recommend the City Council select the road alignment through the Kurak
property.

Reviewed by:

City Engineer
City Administrator

R&B: 08/08/95

/jmt
