Chairperson Wagner asked about the cost of doing the classified type ad in the Business
Opportunities magazine.

Mr. Gromberg replied that it would be approximately $30 per month, but that he would be
ordering a list of advertising rates.

Commissioner Stafld inquired as the exact area including the 39 acres the City had purchased.

Mr. Gromberg replied that it was the gray area on the map included in their agenda packet.

Commissioner Stafld continued the discussion of development and where the roads to be
constructed in 1995 would be located.

Mr. Gromberg explained where they would be and that all the property would be served by City
streets at some time in the future.

Chairperson Wagner inquired as to whether the City has come to an agreement regarding the
McKinley Street extension.

Mr. Gromberg informed him that the issue is still in discussion.

A discussion ensued regarding current development including the Sharp Building and how it will
affect long-term development in the area. It is imperative that the City continue to encourage
quality development so that Ramsey will become an area where people will want to locate their
business and come to grow with the City.

Chairperson Wagner suggested that we generate some ideas to develop for the identity of Ramsey
for advertising purposes. This would allow the City to produce a long-term strategy for marketing
the entire City, not just this property.

Formation of a subcommittee was suggested consisting of Commissioners Nelson, Stafki, and
Kent to discuss suggestions for advertising.

Commissioner Marquart suggested that a city-wide campaign for a City logo that could be used for
advertising and display on the water tower as well as other things.

Chairperson Wagner suggested that we f'md out what the cost would be for us to bring our ideas to
the magazine to create an advertisement based upon our ideas.

Commissioner Nelson stated that it may cost more for the magazine to create the advertisement, but
it would keep our costs down in time and we may not create as professional a result as the
magazine could.

Commissioner Kent suggested that we contact some of the cities in the southern Metro Area to find
out how they promote their city-owned property. This may provide us with some information to
build upon other successes. Commissioner Kent stated that he would contact some cities in the
southern Metro Area for a sampling of ideas. This information will be forwarded to the other
members of the EDC.

STAFF INPUT

Mr. Gromberg informed the EDC that the Wendell's Company has decided to move to the City of
Ramsey. The construction of their 20,000+ square foot building will commence in the spring of
1995.
Economic Development Commission / January 5, 1995
Page $ of 6
