Commissioner David Kent arrived. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ullen inquired into the status City Council's review of the condition of premises <br />section of the City Code. She suggested that it be made more stringent in what materials could be <br />stored on properties. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Ramsey Business Expo <br /> <br />The 1995 Ramsey Business Expo will be conducted as part of the Lions Community Picnic. <br />Commissioner Stafki is this year's Chairperson for this event and has been attending the Lion's <br />planning meetings for the picnic. The Expo area will be located on the first diamond where the <br />bingo tent was last year. For this event, the EDC will need to provide the following materials: <br />tent, booths, additional entertainment if desired, power generator, and funding for two portable <br />toilets. Fortunately, what we will not need to provide this year is food, public address systems, <br />majority of advertising, all of the entertainment, staging for the entertainment, and other items <br />required for holding the event at the school. The Lions have indicated the following schedule for <br />their picnic event: <br /> <br />10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. <br />11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. <br />3:30 p.m. <br />4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. <br />4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Softball Tournament <br />Concession sales <br />1 K Walk/Run <br />Free food for children <br />Rides will be operating <br /> <br />The Lions have indicated that, in the past, the majority of the attendees come between 4:00 p.m. <br />and 4:30 p.m. When planning the Expo, we will want to consider this. <br /> <br />There are a variety of ways to arrange the layout for the Expo. There could be individual tent- <br />booths, a single large open tent with booths similar to those used at the Ramsey Elementary School <br />inside of the large canopy-type tent, or a combination of ideas. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stafki informed the EDC that there will be no "rain day" for the Community Picnic. <br />This will make a tent or some type of enclosure for the booths necessary. <br /> <br />Chairperson Wagner suggested obtaining price quotes for types of booths and tents. He also <br />asked about provisions for electrical power in the booths. <br /> <br />General consensus was to provide booths with electrical power along the outer wall of the tent, <br />allowing for extension cords. <br /> <br />Mr. Gromberg will obtain price quotes and availability on various booth and tent arrangements. <br /> <br />Chairperson Wagner reminded the EDC that everyone must expedite plans to meet the June 3rd <br />date. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stafki mentioned that it may encourage participation to mention the number of <br />persons attending the picnic. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Stafki to conduct this year's <br />Ramsey Business Expo from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission / March 9, 1995 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
