Trail Background and Pu .rpose

Over the last decade, Ramsey's residential growth is in part due to people's desire (or need) to be
near the highly developed Metro Area, but with semi-rural natural surroundings. Trail corridors
provide convenience and economy of travel, and protect a resident's connection with nature
through sensory contact with the green space that the corridors provide. Maintaining or increasing
green space, non-motorized travelways, and outdoor recreation opportunities are essential in
protecting Ramsey's quality of life and economic vitality.

Rationale For Trails

In some cases it is impossible and others not economically viable to provide all recreational
opportunities within each recreation district. An adequate system of trails and
neighborhood streets provide access to recreation within Ramsey and to adjoining
communities.

dors, and neighborhood streets provide transportation routes and provide
mobility choices for those not having availability or desire for automobile use. The results
of which are improved air and water quality and reduced noise pollution over vehicular
transportation.

Trails provide recreation opportunities for all ages and all abilities.

Trail corridors are linear parks which provide natural resource protection including habitat
and local migration routes for wildlife, residential green ~space, and buffers between homes
in addition to a recreational purpose.
