* I~ th~ project innov.tiw?

The boardwalk in particular will allow students and residents an opportunity to "immerse"
themselves in a natural area. We will be discovering new roles and new skills as we work to
improve and maintain this area for wildlife and future generations. We are engaged in a project
which is constantly challenging our senses and "begs" for innovation.

* Does the project leverage resources beyond that of the City and its residents?

We have already demonstrated that the RELA encourages the use of local and county
businesses and services. The following businesses provided labor, space, and limited amounts of
materials. They were unable to provide any cash for the RELA Project. Knox lumber, Anoka Electric
Cooperative, LeTourneaus, NSP, local tree l~immers, local contractors, Anoka County Parks,
Ramsey Green Team, Anoka Area Gardeners, and the City of Ramsey have been ins~mental in
support. We are also receiving support from Twin City Tree Trust, and will request help from UPA.
We have begun a search of Grants available to Schools who are engaged in environmental
projects. We will communicating with other School Nature Projects through the use of Internet
(telecommunications and e-mail).

How is the project disability sensitive?

We are currently working on how to secure a golf cart so that persons with movement
problems will have access to the trail. The boardwalk will be able to accommodate wheelchairs and
will have some sort of railing system.
For persons with other disabilities, this provides a unique learning area in which we can
observe with all of our sense (touch, smell, hearing, seeing, and tasting.)

Are Ramsey businesses or contractors recipients of expenditures?

We have requested quotes of prices from local dock system company (SuperDeck ... the
owner lives in Ramsey). We will attempt to purchase materials from Ramsey businesses if they
have the necessary supplies and are within our budget constraints.
