Public Hearing, <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin called the public hearing to order at 7:07 p.m. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin stated that CDBO funds are limited to funding projects that benefit the <br />handicapped, senior citizens and low to moderate income persons, planning projects and <br />historical preservation. Ramsey's estimated allocation for 1995 CDBQ is in the amount of <br />$34,769.00. Several organizations submitted request for funding. <br /> <br />Vicki Perry, representing CEAP, presented a background of their services and requested <br />$2,000 in funding from the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Maggi Novak, representing Meals on Wheels, requested $3,500 from the City of Ramsey <br />to help in funding the increased requests for their food services. <br /> <br />Sesse Ellingworth, representing North Suburban Consumer Advocates for the <br />Handicapped, Inc. (N$CAH), described the Disability Awareness Program that they would <br />like to introduce to the fourth grade students at the Ramsey Elementary School. Mr. <br />Ellingworth requested $2,000 for such program. <br /> <br />Marilyn Farinella, representing RISE, described their services and requested $3,000 to <br />assist in funding two mini-vans. <br /> <br />Cathey Weidmann, representing the Senior Outreach Program, requested $2,803 from the <br />City of Ramsey to help them continue providing services to seniors and disabled adults. <br /> <br />Marianne Reich, representing ARC of Anoka County, explained their services and <br />requested funding in the amount of $1,000. <br /> <br />No one was present representing the Alexandra House. They had submitted a request of <br />$3,000 to help fund their Emergency Shelter Program. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin stated that the intent tonight is to accept the requests and on February 14, <br />1995, make a final determination. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated that the City is also requesting some funding for a park <br />trail and to update the housing element of the Comprehensive Plan. The last time that was <br />done was 1980. The Storm Sewer Plan should also be updated. He also mentioned the <br />refurbishment of the old town hall. Mr. Sehroeder reported that last year ACCAP <br />constructed a house in Ramsey using CDBG funds. It was the first home built with this <br />ype of funding. He stated that the public service agencies have requested a total of about <br />17,000. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to close <br />the public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Peterson, Zimmerman and <br />Beahen. Voting No: None.
