He noted the information on snowmobile activity
and also the summary and explanation of portions of Ramsey's snowmobile ordinance.

Councilmember Beahen inquired if Chief Auspos had received any complaints inclusive of
the Ramsey Elementary School area as she had received some phone calls about damage
being done to their new trees and plantings.

Chief Auspos replied he had not.

Councilmember Peterson inquired if the majority of the complaints were for trespassing or
speeding.

Chief Auspos stated the majority of the complaints deal with trespassing.

Councilmember Peterson asked if there is any money budgeted for time for snowmobile
patrolling to which Chief Auspos stated not specifically.

City Adminislxator Sehroeder stated we do not budget specific line items but we do budget
overtime and that could be used for snowmobile patrol.

Counciimember Peterson asked if some of the officers could be used on the weekends.

Chief Auspos stated practically speaking, that's rather difficult.

Mayor Hardin inquired about splitting up a shift and having the officer come in on a
Saturday, etc.

Chief Auspos stated that would still be shorting a shift. He reported that he always tries to
have two officers on duty at all times; therefore, he is not sure how that would work.

Mayor Hardin stated that part of the problem is that the officer's have not been out on the
snowmobile. .

Chief Auspos agreed but added that the weather has not been conducive to snowmobile
patrol.

Mayor Hardin inquired if the complaints are more in one area than another.

Chief Auspos reported that the complaints have been rather wide-spread.

Motion by COuncilmember Peterson and seconded by Couneilmember Zimmerman to adopt
Resolution ~94-01-024 authorizing $1,000 to be taken out of the Council Contingency
Fund to be used by the Police Chief to extend shifts or for overtime to do a snowmobile
patrol.

Further discussion: Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if anyone had volunteered to
help with this.
