Councilmember Beyer commented that the investigator is just a suggestion. Saying these <br />are politically motivated comments is bad. There should be some good response on the <br />part of the Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen inquired if Council couldn't work together without a third party <br />being involved. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer replied that it is possible. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen inquired if it should be done then. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer felt that it would show a good faith effort. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen inquired what the three Planning Commissioners are looking for. <br />Councilmember Beyer replied blood. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen asked, aside from blood, can the issue be "put to bed" even if they <br />do.not like the answers. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer replied that if they are told honesty and straight forward, they will <br />accept it. If this does not get sealed now, it will "rear its ugly head again". <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin asked how to end this. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer stated she is willing to say that Council was wrong in bringing in <br />the EDC; they should not have been involved. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson stated that the bridge is the issue. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman disagreed. He suggested that it is not so much the bridge <br />issue at all. Commissioner Bawden is saying that the Commission was not provided <br />information, the process got dragged out and the wrong people were involved. They felt <br />the Planning Commission should respond to the City Council relating to the comprehensive <br />plan update. There were too many wires crossed - that's the issue here. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer felt that City Council needs to say we were wrong for not <br />intervening sooner. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson agreed that maybe Council let this go too far, but felt that would <br />not solve Commissioner Deemer and Commissioner Hendriksen's concerns. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer inquired of Councilmember Peterson what he would suggest. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson replied that he doesn't feel anything will make them happy; they <br />feel they are being deceived. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer commented if there's smoke, there's fire. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin stated to Councilmember Beyer "you are insinuating staff is being paid off. <br /> <br />Couneilmember Beyer responded that that's the perception; we would need to prove it <br />wrong. <br /> <br />City Council/May 10, 1995 <br /> Page 3 of 11 <br /> <br /> <br />
