Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to direct
Staff to bring back cost estimates, within 30 days, for convening the Council Chambers
into a Police station but to also have some other alternatives for Council to review. One of
the alternatives could be using part of the Fire Barn and locating some of the fire fighting
equipment over at the Public Works buildings.

Further discussion: Councilmember Beyer stated that expanding into the Council
Chambers was the concept most favored by the Police Department. Councilmember
Peterson stated he would have voted for that too if that was the only thing he was offered.
Couneilmember Beyer reiterated that this is more dragging feet again. Councilmember
Beahen stated that if there is more information that would be more beneficial to the Police
Department, then we owe it to them to review all possibilities. Councilmember Beyer
stated that we spent hours going over other plans which Council scrapped. The Police
Department recommended the Council Chambers alternative. Councilmember Zimmerman
inquired if someone was thinking that the Police could use the metal shed on the Public
Works property. Mayor Hardin responded no. We could move half of the Fire Department
equipment there. They have been talking about a different location. Councilmember Beyer
stated that the Fire Department has not come back with any recommendation. Mayor
Hardin added that this will give them time to do that and also we have an obligation to the
taxpayers to look at other alternatives.

Motion carried.
