Vickie Orcutt, 17631 Chameleon Street N.W., stated that she has a tractor/trailer. She
brings it home for safety reasons. If neighbors don't complain, the City shouldn't care.
Garbage tracks create more damage to the street.

Steve Sipe, 15401 Ramsey Boulevard N.W., stated that he checked with the neighborhood
when he moved to Ramsey. He had lived in a lot nicer neighborhood before and moved
here on purpose due to leniency. He stated people should move to neighborhoods with
covenants if they don't like this. Too many people have been here too long doing what
they're doing. He has two trucks on the lot for personal use, as an inheritance for his son.
You need to enforce the code with new residents.

Jeff Martin, 7520 - 164th Lane N.W., stated that you're calling these people businesses,
9,000 pounds aren't commercial vehicles, one-ton isn't a commercial vehicle. Maybe other
people have drill presses in their basements.

Councilmember Zimmerman stated he agrees with most people here. We're too picky on
weight. The excuse of tearing up roads doesn't hold water. The vehicle you use to make a
living should be able to be parked in the driveway. We need to relax storage building
standards.

Councilmember Beyer agreed. Relaxing the code on storage buildings would save on
vandalism issues. We have to work with people. We can't mess with anyone's livelihood.

Mayor Hardin asked if staff needs direction for further research.

Councilmember Peterson stated that we don't have consensus on the Council. Part will
allow anything on a two-acre parcel.

Motion by Councilmember Peterson to allow vehicles under 24 feet, including pickups and
vans stored outside on less than two acres not to exceed two commercial vehicles with all
others inside.

Motion died for lack of a second.

Chuck Hart, 7230 - 153rd Lane N.W., stated he's run a business here for ten years.
Ramsey wouldn't let him build a building big enough for his forklift, three trailers and one-
ton truck.

Councilmember Beyer would like to see more recommendations and a chance to absorb this
information. She likes Anoka's provisions.

Kendra Lindahl, Code Enforcement Intern, stated that she has received several calls from
residents thanking the City for code enforcement.

Jay Guimont, 5720 - 164th Avenue N.W., stated he has three acres and one bobcat/trailer.
He asked that all taxpayers be informed of this issue.

Mayor Hardin suggested perhaps setting up a business permitting process.

Consensus of the Council was to continue this discussion at another workshop.

City Council Work Session/July 17, 1995
