LAND USE ISSUES OF ADJACENT LOCAL
GOVERNMENTS

In December, 1993, RLK Associates surveyed local governments
adjacent to the City of Ramsey to determine whether a potential
existed for complementary and\or conflicting land uses and land
use policies. A summary of these meetings was conveyed to the
Planning Commission and City staff in a memorandum dated December
27, 1993.

The following is a summary of our meetings with local governments
adjacent- to the City of Ramsey:

City of Anoka. The City of Anoka has retained a consultant
to evaluate the land uses, subdivision requirements and
transportation facilities within the Anoka Enterprise Park.
The Enterprise Park is located south of TH 116, east of the
City of Ramsey and north of TH 10. This study should be
monitored due to the residential land uses in the City of
Ramsey north of TH 116, and possible industrial land uses in
the City of Anoka located south of TH 116. The future land
development activities at the intersection of TH 116 and TH
47 should be closely monitored due to the potential for
future commercial land use growth in the area.

Transportation access to and within the Anoka Enterprise
Park should be reviewed by the City of Ramsey. The existing
Thurston Ave. has the potential to carry a much higher
volume of commercial and industrial traffic. Extension of
McKinley Street west of Thurston Ave. to Sunfish Lake Blvd.
NW has not been endorsed by Anoka but could benefit the City
of Ramsey as a north frontage road for TH 10, while also
serving the Anoka Enterprise Park.

City of Champlin. The City of Champlin remains opposed to
any bridge in its community that crosses the Mississippi
River. The result of this is that the City of Ramsey and
the City of Dayton may be the next likely candidates for a
Mississippi River crossing.

Working Paper #1
City of Ramsey Comprehensive
Land Use E1 ement

Plan Update

18
