Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case g4: Review of Certain 1994 Capital Purchases <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart stated that Staff is looking at purchasing the following items: Paper <br />folder, dictaphone/l~anscriber, six office task chairs, plain paper Fax machine, three cellular <br />phones, three mini-recorders and two 35 mm cameras with cases. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Mayor Gilbertson to approve the <br />purchase of the capital items listed and recommend City Council adopt the resolution <br />authorizing purchase of these certain 1994 Budgeted Capital Items. <br /> <br />Motion em'fled. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Beyer, Peterson <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #$: Review Request from Ramsey Lions Club Regarding Number <br /> of Sites Allowable for Lawful Gambling <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart explained that the Ramsey Lions Club is asking that they be allowed <br />to be exempt from the limit of lawful gambling sites. The Lions have four more sites in the <br />works. While the Gambling Committee (Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman and <br />Finance Officer Hart) has looked at and revised the gambling ordinance, she stated she <br />would like the Committee to research it further. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to table <br />further discussion of this case until the Gambling Committee has had a chance to do more <br />research. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case ~6: Open Meeting Law Defense Cost Reimbursement Coverage <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated that the City's Insurance Agent of Record (Michael <br />Hadtrath) was contacted regarding insurance for open meeting law defense coverage and he <br />has recommended not purchasing such coverage. <br /> <br />Personnel Coordinator McAloney stated that according to Mr. Hadtrath, this coverage is <br />after the fact. They would reimburse the Councilmember up to 80 percent once that person <br />is proven innocent; however, if the Councilmember is guilty, there is no reimbursement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that the Council could be charged with an open meeting <br />violation and be innocent. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hardin felt that this insurance should be purchased. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney suggested that if everyone is doing what they should be doing, there should <br />be no reason to purchase this insurance. <br /> <br />Finance Committee/January 18, 1994 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
