Ms. McAloney requested if there are questions on agenda items, to please call prior to the <br />meeting and she would arrange to have more information available. <br /> <br />Boardmember Pearson stated he would like the information about whether or not it's <br />feasible for the Assistant Chief position to be a temporary work assignment for two years. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer stated she would like to see more in writing on what brought this <br />change in the hiring process on. She also told Ms. McAloney and Mr. Schroeder that they <br />did not really sit down with the Fire Department and talk with them about the change, they <br />just said this is the way it will be. She stated she has heard that from several people. <br /> <br />Fire Fighter Spence acknowledged that he was one who felt that way. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney stated that this was brought to the Fire Department. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Boardmember Simpson to table this <br />issue until there is more support information available and until an answer is received <br />regarding the Assistant Chief as a two-year temporary work assignment position. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmember Beyer, Boardmembers <br />Simpson and Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Boardmembers McLaughlin and <br />Wilson. <br /> <br />Case #2: Posting for Position of Fire Chief <br /> <br />Discussion of this case will be handled following more information received relating to <br />Case #1. <br /> <br />Case #3: Review Recommendations of the Interviewing Panel <br /> <br />Fire Chief Griffin stated that Ms. McAloney, Assistant Fire Chief Kapler and he (Griffin) <br />reviewed applications and interviewed nine individuals interested in the position of <br />Volunteer Fire Fighter. The panel is recommending two of the applicants, Kelly Neameyer <br />and John Grewe, be offered the position and be directed to proceed with pre-employment <br />examinations. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gilbertson and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to approve <br />recommending to Council, to offer the position of Volunteer Fire Fighter to Kelly <br />Neameyer and John Grewe and that they proceed with pre-employment examinations. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Beyer, Boardmembers <br />Pearson and Simpson. Voting No: None. Absent: Boardmembers McLaughlin and <br />Wilson. <br /> <br />Ms. McAloney stated that the Fire Department received a verbal resignation from an <br />evening Fire Fighter during the week of August 8, 1994. The interviewing panel is <br />suggesting taking the number one person on the list to fill the position of the resigning Fire <br />Fighter and to begin employment examinations. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Boardmember Simpson to take the <br />number one person on the list of available night time Fire Fighters to fill the position of the <br />resigning Fire Fighter and to begin employment examinations. <br /> <br />Fire Board/August 17, 1994 <br /> Page 7 of 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
