CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 12, 1994, at the
Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Rarnsey, Minnesota.

Members Present:

Mayor James Gilbertson
Councilmember Sheila Beyer
Councilmember Glen Hardin
Councilmember Kenneth Peterson
Councilmember Gerald Zirnmerrnan

Also Present:

City Administrator Ryan Schroeder
Finance Officer Jessie Hart
City Attorney William Goodrich
City Engineer Steven Jankowski
Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Oilbertson called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:03 p.m. and
led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

CITIZEN INPUT

Cynthia Mattson, 6049 - 178th Lane N.W., Ramsey, stated that she and her husband had
signed a:pefifion calling for a feasibility study for street lights in their development and that
they would like to change their minds now.

City Engineer Jankowski explained the procedure for public improvement projects and
reassured Ms. Mattson that the petition was to initiate only a feasibility study at this time.

Tom Korin, 7931 - 164th Lane N.W., Ramsey, stated that about two months ago, he
decided to putup a pole structure for storage. He contacted the Building Official and was
told that he could build a structure approximately 1,600 square feet. He ordered the
materials for the pole barn and then found, in talking with the Building Official again, that it
was 1,664 square feet, including his garage, which meant he could only build a structure
1,200 square feet as he has less than 2.5 acres. He added that when he purchased his
home, he was under the impression that he had 2.5 acres, however, because of the road, he
cannot build the size structure he wants. He asked Council for suggestions and added that
he is willing to construct a garage type building as opposed to a pole barn; it doesn't matter
to him, he just wants the larger square footage.

Ms. Frolik suggested he could apply for a conditional use permit.

Council directed Ms. Frolik to meet with Mr. Korin to discuss this issue.

APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA

Councilmember Peterson asked to remove item g9 from the Consent agenda and make it
Case #11 on the regular agenda.

City Council/April 12, 1994
