Motion by Councilmember Hardin and Seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to adopt <br />Resolution//94.-08-156 approving the'City of RamseY Safety Manual and directing that a <br />safety committee, consisting of one person from each .department, be established. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Zimmerman and <br />Peterson, Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Beyer. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder stated that a case entitled 1994 - 1995 LELS Labor Agreement was added to <br />the Personnel Committee's agenda. He-disseminated costing sheets to compare the LELS <br />wages with other groups. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to adopt <br />the 1994 - 1995 LELS agreement as follows: Insurance - the same as AFSCME and <br />Exempt; Overtime for time worked on an additional holiday effective January 1, 1995; <br />reduction of the first step; and a 2.55% wage increase in Top Patrol for 1994 with a wage <br />re-opener for 1995. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Zimmerman and <br />Peterson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Beyer. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder stated that it was mentioned to the Personnel Committee that health <br />insurance comes due September 1. We have looked for a reduction and have found an <br />opportunity to reduce the cost to the employee. We w~ll'proceed to give employees this <br />opportunity. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder informed Council that it was alsO mentioned to the Personnel Committee <br />that the Fire Fighter who was injured four years ago has been cleared by his doctor to <br />return to f'n'e fighting. <br /> <br />Case #10: Economic Development Activities <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated that an option agreement, as authorized by City <br />Council, has been entered into for property north of ParaBody along Sunfish Lake <br />Boulevard N.W. Staff had noted two other option offers; however, due to the lower <br />priority of these parcels, Staff recommended not entering into the agreements at that time. <br />Since then, Staff has been approached by a party interested in building a machine shop on <br />the prope~y. While this is not a certainty,.Staff believes that entering into a $500 option <br />and pursmng the $20,000 purchase, contingent upon a simultaneous closing with the <br />development proposer, is worth the effort. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to <br />authorize entering into an option agreement for Lot 1, Block 1, Gateway North Industrial <br />Park Plat 4, in the amount of $20,000 and to authorize Staff to negotiate simultaneous <br />purchase/sale agreement on this parcel. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Zimmerman and <br />Peterson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Beyer. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich explained that there has been ongoing discussions with two <br />property owners along McKinley Street right-of-way. The City is proposing to purchase a <br />total of approximately 28 acres for an offer price of $250,390 which is significant, <br />however, the property is extremely important to the City. <br /> <br />City Council/August 9, 1994 <br /> Page 16 of 20 <br /> <br /> <br />
