2) Game Fair

City Administrator Schroeder stated that he received phone calls today from two residents
regarding the Game Fair. He added that this is the f'zrst time since he's been at the City that
he has received any kind of complaint at all about the Game Fair. The first call concerned
trap shooting. The resident stated he was tired of iff The second call related to the concern
of running dogs and also the inability t° use Central Park. This resident stated that he had
individuals using his outside water spigot and also walking across his yard. The resident
also expressed concern about the road wear and that when the exhibitors at the Game Fair
left, speeding was a problem. Mr. Schroeder stated that he was told this was the biggest
attendance year thus far and inquired if Council felt the Game Fair needs to be reviewed.

Councilmember Peterson suggested passing these concerns on to Mr. Delaney.

Councilmember Zimmerman commented that the Game Fair gets recognition/identity for the
City.

Councilmember Beyer felt the City should become more involved with the Game Fair.

Mayor Gilbertson felt the issue is lack of room. He stated that the Game Fair has been an
annual event for 13 years. The first year it brought in 7,000 visitors, now there are about
75,000 visitors. He added that the only complaint he heard was the traffic backup on
County Road #83.

Police Chief Auspos felt that there needs to be more refined signage for parking.

Terry Hendriksen stated he filled in at: the City's booth and was amazed at the number of
people who didn't know what City they were in.

Councilmember Beyer stated she had a problem with parking because of the exhibitors
parking. She added that something has to be done to identify the City and added that she
likes the Game Fair.

Mayor Gilbertson stated he doesn't think anyone "does not like the Game Fair" but these
concerns should be addressed.

Consensus of the Council was to direct Staff to schedule a meeting with Chuck Delaney to
discuss these concerns. Council asked that the meeting be scheduled for a late afternoon to
allow for some of them to attend.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to adjourn the
meeting.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Beyer, Peterson
and Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

City Council/August 22, 1994
