Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Typewriter Purchase for Police Department <br /> <br />Police Chief Auspos requested a new typewriter for Police Secretary Arlene Stafford as she <br />types 90% of all report transcriptions for the officers and her present typewriter is <br />frequentlY breaking down. He stated this purchase was approved during the 1993 budget <br />process. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmcmber Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to <br />recommend approval of the purchase of an IBM Wheelwriter 2 from Business Machines <br />Sales and. Service at a price of $445 and $28.93 sales tax for a total of 4473.93. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer, <br />Hardin and Peterson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #4: Request for Authorization to Apply for Grant Funds for <br /> Updating the Shoreland Management Ordinance <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that the revised Statewide Standards for "Management <br />of Shoro!and Areas" rules became effective on July 3, 1989. Under the authority of those <br />new rules, the City of Ramsey has until September 1, 1994 to update its ordinance <br />accordingly. She informed the Committee that the Legislature has provided a matching <br />grant program to assist local units of government in updating their ordinance. It is <br />anticipated that updating the ordinance will cost in the neighborhood of $6,000 to $7,000 <br />including planning consultant fees, engineering fees, publications costs, etc. Ms. Frolik <br />stated thatif Ramsey's application is approved, the City will be eligible for reimbursements <br />of up to $5,000 in matching fund dollars. In-kind costs are eligible contributions toward <br />the City's share of the project. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to <br />recommend that City Council make application to the State of Minnesota for grant <br />assistanCe~for the purpose of updating the Shoreland Management Ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />The Finance Committee directed Staff to keep them informed of the status of the grant. <br /> <br />Case #$: City of Ramsey 19th Annual Tree Sale and Fifth Annual <br /> Environmental Exposition <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Coordinator Boos stated that the Tree Sale and Environmental Expo are <br />scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 1993, and summaxized the plans thus far. He requested <br />funding for ~m and developing, resident seedling packaging and a 2.5 hour Family, <br />hands-on environmental education exhibit. Mr. Boos stated that another item the Tree <br />Committee felt strongly about was a cultural component and they have discussed having <br />native dancers at a cost of about $350 to $400.
