This
years Expo will be similar to last year's event; however, there will be minor changes including a
rearrangement of the booths to allow for additional ones to allow better traffic flow of visitors to
the Expo. As~the attached layout indicates, this year the booths will be aligned the length of the
gym to allowTor greater traffic flow. This year, the Expo has been advertised to the following
area'.

Highway #169 in the west to Hanson Blvd. in the east, and
The Mississippi River to the south to St. Francis in the north.

The area covers approximately 12,000 households and should allow for a greater attendance at this
year's Expo. Attached is a copy of the flyer that has been distributed to the area residents. As of
Thursday, 19 business reserved booths.

Commissioner Nelson gave an update on the entertainment situation. She stated that there will be
clowns for the entire length of the event. Alive and Free from Central Lutheran Church in Anoka
will be on stage at 2:30 for 45 to 60 minutes. There will be a cost for this group of approximately
$50. Jazzercise will be scheduled at 11:15 for approximately 45 minutes. The Anoka Blenders
(formerly the Anoka Old Time Band) will be on stage from 1:45 until 2:30; at a cost of $50. T-Rex
from the Minnesota Vikings will be at the Expo from 1:00 until 3:00 at a cost of $300 for two
hours which is a better value than Crunch from the Minnesota Timberwolves at a cost of $275 for
one hour.

Commissioner Ullen informed us that she has contacted many prize donors. Many businesses
indicated that, they just donated prizes for Business Appreciation Day just over a month ago and we
may be going back to the well too often.

Mr. Gromberg informed Mary that he had acquired some door prizes in the course of contacting
some people during his attempts to rent booths for the Expo. Commissioner Ullen will meet with
Mr. Gromberg to arrange the pick up schedule for door prizes.

Commissioner Kent discussed the overall planning of the Expo and stated that we all need to get
together and work hard on getting businesses. It is very difficult for just a few people to become
involved with the Expo, it requires an effort from the entire group for it all to come together.
Commissioner Kent hopes that next year that we will be able to have more commission members
and volunteers involved in the Business Expo and Business Appreciation Day.

Case #1:

City of Ramsey Economic Development Hall of Fame Selection
Process.

At the last EDC meeting a Hall of Fame inductee was chosen, Mr. Duke Grosslein. At this
selection process, we discussed some of the criteria that should be used. Based upon past
discussions, there are some basic guidelines to follow such as length of residence, length of
service to the community and business integrity and time lines.

Economic Development Commission / October 13, 1993
Page 2 of 3
