Commissioner Swokowski recommended the process to <br />rate districts by points be examined at the same time. <br /> <br />The consenstis of the Park and Recreation Commission was to research the cost of closing the loop <br />on the trail development that comprised the 1993 Capital Improvement Request (thru Northfork <br />and running South of Hunters Ridge terminating at Autumn Heights, then a bike trail along County <br />Road 83 to Central Park with a possible 1994 connection to Traprock Commons ) as a result of the <br />extension of 153rd Avenue. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued with regard to neighborhood park development and smaller scale capital <br />improvements. Staff was directed to report on the status of the Charitable Gambling Fund as this <br />was the presumed source of "incidental" capital improvements. <br /> <br />The Park and Recreation Commission agreed that a 3-5 year comprehensive development plan <br />should be again discussed at the next regular meeting. Intended is that a work session would <br />subsequently be held with the City Council to refine and explain the CommissionS proposed <br />direction. <br /> <br />Tree 0nd Vegetative Cover l~sues <br /> <br />Mr. Boos solicited the Commission's views on tree preservation. Discussion ensued regarding <br />recommendations from the Commission versus "iron clad" ordinances as it related to new <br />subdivisions. Responding to Commissioner Florentius, Mr. Schroeder stated that both have their <br />advantages and disadvantages and supported the Commission in speaking to this issue. Amber <br />Ridge was referred to as an example. <br /> <br />Status of Amber Ridge <br /> <br />Mark Boos reported the berm along State Highway//47 that will act as a trail corridor buffer to <br />residents in Amber Ridge is projected to begin next week. The berm is being constructed now so <br />the developercan relocate trees to be saved that are in the way of construction. Mr. Boos indicated <br />that between the Releaf Grant Trees ( for individual lots) and 250 pine seedlings that the City will <br />supply therewill be approximately 750 small trees in the Amber Ridge area. <br /> <br />Tree Sale and Ex0o <br /> <br />Mr. Boos extended an open invitation to all Commissioners to become involved in the <br />Environmental Expo and Tree Sale. The Citizen's Tree Committee is actively seeking more <br />volunteers for the May 1st event. <br /> <br />park Distriet Reoresentatives <br /> <br />Mr. Boos is to choose park districts for each Commissioner (the district the Commissioner lives in <br />if possible, plus others). Mr. Schroeder suggested the possibility of pursuing persons for <br />Commissioner vacancies in those districts that are not represented on the Commission. <br />Commissioner Gookin supports the idea of assigning different areas of the parks process to each <br />Commissioner to facilitate interaction with residents, developers, and the City Council. <br />Commissioner Cook reminded staff that the Commission needs to receive the agenda at least four <br />days prior to the meeting to facilitate pre-meeting inspections. <br /> <br />Alternative Meetine Sites <br /> <br />The Park and ,Recreation Commission agreed with Mr. Boos' suggestion of scheduling periodic <br />summer inspections of the parks in conjunction with regular meetings. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/March 10, 1993 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
