1) Economic Development Authority regular meeting minutes dated May 12, 2003. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members LeToumeau, Steffen, Kiefer, and Kurak. Voting No: None. Absent: Members Gromberg and Strommen. EDA BUSINESS Case #1: 2003 Business of the Year Associate Planner Megan Wald explained that each year, at the Ramsey Business Appreciation Day, the City presents a business with the Business of the Year award. The EDA has used the following general criteria when considering nominees: o Been involved in all aspects of the community. Provided for the maintenance or expansion of the commercial/industrial tax base of the community through the development of new business ventures or the retention or expansion of existing business. Expanded or retained the employment base of the community. Been a positive influence on'the community. Staff requested that the EDA determine what business should be presented with the 2003 Business of the Year award. The EDA was asked if it wished to add people to the nominee list. There were none added. The following is the list of businesses that the EDA considered for the 2003 award. Staff discussed some of the outstanding accomplishments and/or community donations of these businesses. Sauter and Sons Excavating - Tom Sauter Diamonds Sports Bar Sunfish Commons Partnership Community First Bank Peck Construction Anderson-Dahlen Life Fitness Associate Planner Wald gave examples of registration brochures for the City of Ramsey's 15th Annual Business Appreciation Day to each person in attendance. She stated that recipients of the brochures would have them by July 1,2003. Discussion followed regarding the nominees for the 2003 Business of the Year award. It was decided that the award should be given to Diamonds Sports Bar. Motion by Member Kurak, seconded by Member Kiefer, to award Diamonds Sports Bar the 2003 Business of the Year.
