1) Economic Development Authority regular meeting minutes dated May 12, 2003. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members LeToumeau, Steffen, Kiefer, and <br />Kurak. Voting No: None. Absent: Members Gromberg and Strommen. <br /> <br />EDA BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: 2003 Business of the Year <br /> <br />Associate Planner Megan Wald explained that each year, at the Ramsey Business Appreciation <br />Day, the City presents a business with the Business of the Year award. The EDA has used the <br />following general criteria when considering nominees: <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />Been involved in all aspects of the community. <br />Provided for the maintenance or expansion of the commercial/industrial tax base of the <br />community through the development of new business ventures or the retention or <br />expansion of existing business. <br />Expanded or retained the employment base of the community. <br />Been a positive influence on'the community. <br /> <br />Staff requested that the EDA determine what business should be presented with the 2003 <br />Business of the Year award. The EDA was asked if it wished to add people to the nominee list. <br />There were none added. <br /> <br />The following is the list of businesses that the EDA considered for the 2003 award. Staff <br />discussed some of the outstanding accomplishments and/or community donations of these <br />businesses. <br /> <br />Sauter and Sons Excavating - Tom Sauter <br />Diamonds Sports Bar <br />Sunfish Commons Partnership <br />Community First Bank <br />Peck Construction <br />Anderson-Dahlen <br />Life Fitness <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald gave examples of registration brochures for the City of Ramsey's 15th <br />Annual Business Appreciation Day to each person in attendance. She stated that recipients of the <br />brochures would have them by July 1,2003. <br /> <br />Discussion followed regarding the nominees for the 2003 Business of the Year award. It was <br />decided that the award should be given to Diamonds Sports Bar. <br /> <br />Motion by Member Kurak, seconded by Member Kiefer, to award Diamonds Sports Bar the <br />2003 Business of the Year. <br /> <br />Economic Development Authority / June 9, 2003 <br /> Page 2 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
