The four <br />major property owners are paying for the planner. <br /> <br />City Adminisn'ator Schroeder inquired what options are being explored relative to the <br />McKinley Street extension and inquired about the time frame. He stated Ramsey is anxious <br />for Anoka to extend McKinley. <br /> <br />Mr. Kirohner replied that Anoka has not yet made decisions relating to McKinley to which <br />City Manager Nagel added they would have an answer to Ramqey by September. <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />The joint Council meeting recessed at 6:12 p.m. for dinner. <br />The Council meeting reconvened at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Case W2: Capital Improvements and Capital Outlay <br /> <br />City Manager Nagel noted the copies of the Capital Improvements and the Capital Outlay, <br />and the COmpilation of Public Works equipment from the Cities of Elk River, Dayton and <br />Champlin; He stated that having this list will make it easier for dries to share equipment. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated that Ram~ey is looking to fund a Public Works facility <br />in perhaps 1996 and Anoka is planning to fund such facility in 1997. He suggested the <br />cities contemplate joint facilities also. <br /> <br />DiscussiOn ensued regarding the economics of sharing equipment, getting a volume <br />discount for the joint purchase of repair items and possibly sharing a facility. Mayor <br />Beberg suggested talking with the school districts regarding this same idea as well. <br /> <br />Case #3: Transportation Improvements Update <br /> <br />City Manager Nagel stated that the repaving of Highway #169 should be completed by <br />Friday night, May 7, 1993. He stated they are looking at an alternative with MnDOT for <br />the intersection of Main Street and Ferry Street. He stated they would like all the <br />improvements at the same time as the improvements to the Mississippi Bridge. He stated <br />the Ferry Street Bridge is designed for 36,000 to 37,000 vehicles and there are over <br />50,000 now. The traffic will not move any faster without another bridge. He hopes to <br />have a de~ision worked out by mid-July 1993, to go with the Mississippi Bridge which <br />would be a two-year project <br /> <br />Case #4: Dayton/Ramsey Bridge Update <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder stated that the City of Dayton has been going through a series <br />of meetings with the public regarding the Dayton/Ramsey Bridge. It is now in the hands of <br />a planning committee and they are holding neighborhood meetings. According to the <br />Mayor of Dayton, it will be a couple of months before a decision is made. <br /> <br />A joint toll bridge was discussed and the idea appeared favorable. City Engineer <br />Jankowsld stated that Ramsey's Planning and Zoning Commission was approached by a <br />couple of individuals regarding a toll bridge and it received a split vote. The <br />Commissioners against the idea felt that we wouldn't see a MnDOT bridge if a toll bridge <br />was erected.
