I
I
I
I
I
I
!
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Motion oarried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Peterson, Beyer
and Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

Case gT: Report from the Road and Bridge Committee

City Engineer Jankowski stated that the Road and Bridge Committee met earlier and
discussed the potential naming of 153rd and 154th Avenues and also Sunfish Lake Drive
N.W. The Committee has decided to solicit suggestions for names for these streets. The
new MS~- System was changed so the City is within 1300ths of the maximum amount of
mileage 'allowed to designate as MSA. A proposal to provide a City entrance sign in
conjunction with the North Fork representatives was discussed.

City Administrator Schroeder stated that North Fork is proposing to construct and maintain
a sign aU 153rd Avenue N..W. and Highway #10 as an entrance sign to the City on one
side and an entrance to The Links at Northfork on the other. The cost to the City would not
exceed $3,000.

Councilmcmber Hardin stated that entrance signage to the City has been discussed for a
number of years and felt that the signs should be the same at all the entrances to the City.
He felt that the Economic Development Commission should review the sign proposal also.
He also expressed concern that the sign will look "too much like North Fork's own" and
added that he's not sure advertising should be allowed on the back of an entry sign as other
businesses may want to advertise also.

Mr. Schroeder felt in this case it made sense because the entrance to the City and the
entrance to Nonlffork are basically in the same location.

Councilmember Beyer stated she has no problem with the sign proposal.

Mr. Sankowski stated that the City Council had informally received a petition against the
Bison Street project. The petition was received after the 60 days and was not signed by
more thanS0% of the affected property owners. The Road and Bridge Committee feel the
paving is an important consideration and will be recommending that Council proceed with
the project.

Case gS: Report from the Personnel Committee

City Administrator Schroeder stated that in January, the City hired three new employees.
Receptionist Joanne Kusler, one of those newly hired employees, has requested a reduction
in her hours for the summer due to daycare problems. The Personnel Committee is
recommending offering Ms. Kusler part time hours for the summer and authorizing City
Staff to f'fll her hours at a cost not to exceed the budgeted amount.

Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to grant
Receptionist Joanne Kusler her request for a reduction in hours for the summer months and
that Staff will fill the hours with a part time person or intern at a cost not to exceed the
amount initially budgeted for the position.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Zimmerman,
Beyer and Peterson. Voting No: None.

City Council/May 11, 1993
