She stated that the road is in a flood zone and if it <br />should w~h OUt, a cost has to be figured in for replacement. There is nowhere for the <br />water to gb without the wetlands. <br /> <br />Mayor Oiibertson assured her that all water studies would be completed. <br /> <br />Ken Vo~, 15315 Armstrong Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, stated that the road will go <br />through h~ back yard and inquired what he could do to convince Council and Staff that this <br />road should not be constructed. <br /> <br />Mr. Sc~er stated that it is Staffs position that this collector street has to be completed. <br />The City has pretty good north/south routes, however, for the east/west route, there is <br />nothing. ~t~ community needs to provide for good transportation access. This proposed <br />roadway 1}rovides for that. He added that this collector has been in the plans for 20 years. <br />We ne.~d ito determine if this alignment is the best or if another one would be better, <br />however,¢ he reminded the residents that this public hearing was to discuss the <br />environmental impacts, not the alignment. <br /> <br />A gentleman in the audience stated that it appeared minds have been made up. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroeder stated that he has made up his mind, however, City Council has not made <br />up theirs.. <br /> <br />Mr. Vas$Our felt that a person could get up to Highway #10 using the present route before <br />they could using the curves that are proposed. <br /> <br />Mr. Schroedor stated that Mr. Vasseur is suggesting using residential streets as collectors. <br />The traffi~ will continue to increase in the residential areas and the City is trying to avoid <br />that. He ~,tatod he understands the resident's concerns but reiterated that the community <br />must provide for the transportation impact. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by C°uncilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to close <br />the public,hearing. <br /> <br />Motion e: 'ed.
