Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbenson, Councilmembers Hardin, Beyer, Peterson and Zi ~nnfiennan. Voting No: None. MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT 1) Eeonomic Development Authority Meeting City Admini' 'slrator Schroeder stated the meeting _time had been changed to 7:30 because of a meeting 'that he and Councilmember Peterson have to attend earlier that same evening. 2) Landfill Task Force Councilmember Peterson stated that he and Councilmember Zimmerman would meet briefly after tonight's meeting to schedule a date and time for a Landfill Task Force meeting. 3) Snow Removal Contract City Administrator Schroeder stated that during the 1994 budgeting process, Staff proposed ~ntering into a contract for snow removal on one of the routes beginning with the 1993 sea~n. The annual contract cost would be $6,500. Councilmember Beyer inquired if this idea had been discussed with Public Works Supervisog Mevissen. City Engineer Sankowski stated he has discussed this with Mr. Mevissen and he (Mevissen~) has some reservations. He (Mevissen) had done this before and the first year all went fine; however, the second year did not go so well. He stated he talked with Staff at the Ci~ of plymouth and they have contracted out snow removal for the last 15 years. He stated ~at in talking with other cities, he found one drawback to be that a lot of people who do contract snowplowing have typically snowplowed parking lots, not streets. Councilmomber Hardin stated the City would not award the contract to someone who has not previously plowed streets. Mr. Scluxn~er stated this contracting could be done in place of purchasing the track Public Works requested in the 1994 budget. Motion by iCotmcilmember Hardin and seconded by Mayor Cfilbertson to authorize Staff to solicit bid~ for snow removal. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin, Peterson and Zinunerm~. Voting No: Councilmember Beyer. She felt that the City should look at this very seriously. Council just authorized the Fire Department to solicit bids for a tanker and she felt that the Street Department needs good equipment also. 4) Meeting at Dayton Mr. Schroe. der reported that the City of Dayton has a committee of citizens looking at the transportation plan.
