City Engineer 01son stated the ground water flows to the south and east, with the residential <br />developmen to ihe north. He indicated he received a call today from Burlington Northern, who <br />is working ~ dthJthe Town Center, LLC, asking for the Pet Center to be converted to City sewer <br />and water, el.imihating their need for a well. <br /> <br />Chairperson Ni~t asked if they would need a new water tower. <br /> <br />City Engine! :r O~son stated they will get a third, and will need three new wells. He indicated the <br />water suppl~ platn will be updated next week. He stated it had been anticipated the city would <br />need eight .~'ells~ and they have five. There have been two suggested on this site, and they will <br />discuss localion~ that could be used as potential well sites. He noted that in reference to the <br />arsenic, it hzs b~.en determined that it needs to be 10 parts per million or less, and Ramsey's is <br />lower. He state41 Andover has a water treatment facility, and Ramsey has been looking at one, <br />but an $8 to. ~ 10 !million facility is not part of this plan. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixl stated Ramsey's current towers are meant to carry one full days water, so they <br />will need to ~leal!with: this anyway, but asked if there were aquifer issues with this property. <br />City Enginee} Ol~on stated the DNR controls how much water can be taken out of an aquifer, and <br />there will ne~d tO be an amendment from the DNR in their agreement with the City. <br /> <br />Chairperson iXlixt asked how this ties into the site. He questioned what plans there were to fund <br />the wells an~ tower with the development from the site. <br /> <br />City Enginee~ Oison stated they have two wells in the CIP, and have additional capacity in the <br />current wells~I H~ indicated the well sites are not currently delineated on the sketch plan, but they <br />have identified -,tWo places that would be far enough away from current wells. He stated this <br />would be addressed in the update of the water plan. They have determined they need to go west <br />with the ne~ tov~er to reduce the impact of all of the wells operating at once. He advised the <br />well house in[ tho middle of the site has the capability of handling another pump. He explained <br />these were their ihitial thoughts, but the intent is to get a model done with the water engineer. <br /> <br />Chairperson ~ixtiasked how the roads are going to be phased. <br /> i <br /> <br />C~ty Eng~nee~r O!son indicated they have had numerous &scusslon with Mn/Dot over several <br />months. He ~tated there are millions of dollars of infrastructure, and there will be triggers that <br />invoke const ct~n.
