Mr. Johnsor sta.~ed they moved the road over nine feet to make it a public road.

Ms. Kuechl¢~ asked what affect that has on her putting up trees or shrubs in her yard.

ChairpersonlNixt indicated it has no affect. He stated there will be a 25 foot buffer strip with a
prescribed n ~ml~er of shrubs and a retaining wall with screening. He would suggest Staff discuss
this with M.~ Kt~echle, as it will be an issue as it goes from rural to medium density.

Ms. Kuechl~ stat, ed she also heard about a sidewalk going on her property.

City Engineer Olson indicated a sidewalk is not required in this case in the cul-de-sac. He noted
the City is r~ue~ting a link to the County trail.
Chairperson ~i~ commented that the trail link would answer Mr. Fredrick's question of how the
kids will getlto s~hool.

Ms. Kuechl¢[ asked why she was not notified as a homeowner that they would be putting in a
trail. ~ "

Principal Pl.,ann~,r Trudgeon indicated the trail would be in the right-of-way, not on Ms.
ruechle's property.
City Engine~ O[son indicated on County roads the right-of-way is 120 feet from the centerline.
He added wlien they put trails in front of yards they try to preserve as many of the trees as they
can.

Ms. Kuechle}sta~d that on the 2na Addition, she is appalled at the proposed development. She
indicated shetkn4w the previous owners, and both of them were opposed to anything being built
there excePt [sin$1e-family homes. They are both dead now, and she has been told that the
developer was p~oposing multi-family homes because he had to make up the additional money
the daughter~ were requesting. She commented the daughters were only asking for an add~tlonal
$20,000, which ~ith four homes could easily be made up.
Bob Steur, 1 ~251.- Sodium Street, stated his home is six years old, and is completely surrounded
by single-fancily homes. He is wondering why the City would allow multi-family homes in the
area. He st'at~d hie is opposed to townhomes for all the reasons the Commission has heard, and is
concerned fol4 hisiproperty value. He would like to see single-family homes considered.

Motion by Ct ai~erson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Johnson to close the public hearing.

Motion Carri ~d. i Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Johnson, Brauer, Shepherd,
Van Scoy and.
