Schroeder, City Administrator <br /> <br />CASE <br /> <br />During budgi~t discussions in 1991, Council directed staff to request proposals from legal firms for <br />general legal,, prDsecution and development legal services for 1992. At the December t7, 1991 <br />meeting, Cot~nc~was informed that the firms of Rosenthal, Rondoni & MacMillan of Minneapolis, <br />Burke and I-I~wldns of Coon Rapids, Randall, Dehn & Goodrich of Anoka, Olson, Usset, Agan & <br />Weingarden Df ~inneapolis and Leighton, Karney & Crabtree of Roseville, submitted proposals <br />for prosecUtiOn ~nd general legal and, in some cases, development work. The finn of Holmes & <br />Graven of IVI~ nn~apolis submitted a proposal for Bond Counsel and development work. <br /> [ , <br />During disct/.;ssidns of the January 14, 1992 Council organization case within the regular Council <br />meeting, it Was ~noted that it was the intent of Council to negotiate a contract for general and <br />prosecution liega[ services with the firm of Randall, Dehn & Goodrich, our present provider of the <br />service. Eng~los~d, for your consideration, is a letter agreement from this firm offering these <br />services at a ~rate. for general legal of $75.00 per hour for 1992 and 1993 and $80.00 per hour for. <br />1994. The r~Ite Offered for prosecution work is $60.00 per hour for the first year, $62.00 per hour <br />for the secOrM y~ar and $65.00 per hour for the third year with annual maximum for prosecution <br />fees of $25,000 ~n 1992, $27,050 in 1993 and $29,250 in 1994. <br /> <br />Additionally~ as has been the past practice, it is Staff's desire to continue to work with the firm of <br />Holmes & GraVen, pursuant to their letter enclosed as Bond Counsel, and on Tax Increment <br />Financing an~t d~ectly related legal services and on any work for which Attorney Goodrich has a <br />conflict of int~ere8t or specifically requests involvement of a sister firm. <br /> t <br />In addition tO, the;above, Council has directed that Staff attempt to specifically define the difference <br />between dev~elo~ment work handled by Holmes & Graven and either non-development work or <br />development re~tted work handled by Randall, Dehn & Goodrich.
