Assistant City Administrator stated that the Ya police position would be $29,177 and the <br />sealcoating would be $12,900. <br />Councilmember Look stated that he doesn't understand how the suggested sealcoating plan <br />would be fair to residents. <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that residents paid full price the <br />last o ime the sealcoating. He <br />sealcoated and the longer they go, the less they will pay, percentage <br />admitted that this would not be absolutely fair. He stated that the City looks at every road and <br />tries to do them every 7 years or so. <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that he likes the idea because it gives the City time to absorb these <br />costs. <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that she also likes this approach. <br />Police Chief Way gave some background information on the ff ju n s s ti icati noted that sta t onion <br />officer. He reviewed the definitions of Part 1 and Part 2 0 <br />there has been a rise in these types of calls over <br />since 2002. He reviewed the number 500 calls <br />for service versus the number of officers and esota is increasing bout 2% per year and the City <br />so far this year.. He stated that crime m Mmn <br />is seeing a slightly larger increase. He noted <br />that b ndokespond to Part y 1 and Part 2 calls <br />similar increases. He stated that more than 1 officer <br />and noted that it is pretty rare when an officer responds to a call alone. <br />Councilmember Look asked if the City had seen a big difference in DUI offenses when the law <br />changed. <br />Police Chief Way stated that there has not been a big effect from changing the legal level from <br />1.0 to .08. <br />Councilmember Look stated that in the information Police Chief Way pr since 1999, it appears that <br />the Part 1 offenses, which are the more serious offenses, have doubled <br />just <br />Police Chief Way stated that this was correct, and noted that Part 1 offenses were not <br />are a <br />homicides, but also aggravated assaults, burglaries and auto thefts.
